A Time to Dance
Sometimes, it's so nice to put on my favorite dress and just go dance! I've often caught myself taking things TOO SERIOUSLY!! But, with moments like these below, when our kids just started dancing together.... ah, the welling up inside of pure joy. I'm just enjoying the moment.

This was the scene around our house last Sunday morning! Before daddy left for church, he took some time with his little girl!

I recently found out that a girl I knew from high school (a grade younger) died in a car accident in 2006. She had graduated from law school and was married just one year. Both her and her husband died in the accident. It really is so unbelievable this truth that no ones knows their time. Why, of all people, would a young couple such as this be taken? It's like in the same breath, I grieve for her and her family AND I resolve to live this life the only way I should...

I've got to live in the only moment I have ~ That is in This moment.

February Fun!
The kids are napping (well.....reading in their beds!) and the flurries are falling outside. Today is a warm day at 35 degrees! The grandparents just left this morning and are on their way to Boston! : ) We loved every minute. And the camera was snapping away!
The kids and daddy made a fort in the living room. After naptime, we discovered Chester's little hammock! What a comfy spot to relax: right in the warm sun. You'd never know it was 20 degrees outside!

Edible arrangements are the best!!!

At this age, she's not too girlie, but she did like this shoelace in her hair! I wonder if she'll be a really girlie girl or if she'll be more of a tomboy.

Finn got Grandma "MomMom" into playing a lot of games: war and Hi-Ho Cheerio were big hits.

MomMom did a great job on the train table, rearranging all the tracks!

PopPop's time with the little girl!!! I love how Ally looks at him like, "What are you talking about?!!"

joys of good fellowship
Had a great lunch today with the Brown's ~ although we are working through some tough stuff together. It ended with us praying in the car in our driveway. I couldn't pray out loud because I would have been crying ~ and I'm not a pretty crier! If I'm crying, my whole body starts convulsing and you would not be able to understand anything I would be trying to say! : ) But, nonetheless, it was a wonderful time of fellowship with those we are closest to here!
We also got a surprise delivery from Cam's sister! (Photos to come!!) It was edible and gone within a couple hours of its arrival. Yumm-O!!
We are so thankful for the love being poured out on us!

Catching Up
Today was a normal day. But, it just had a special feel to it. I was really taking in all the sweet, little mundane moments. Even sweeping and moping the bedroom floors seemed fulfilling! Paying some bills = extreme gratification. And dinner of meatloaf and three cheese mashed potatoes (thanks to Carol H. for the recipes!) was truly amazing, hmmm.. if I don't say so myself.
I had a great talk with someone about the saying, "Family is your first ministry." I will write further about that on the next Project Proverbs 31 post. I also had a chuckle that no where in Proverbs 31 does it mention the wife loving her husband! I thought that was rather funny!
But, the warmest, fuzziest part of my day was this.....

We created a fort for their animals - and Elmo - to enjoy snacktime.

Look closely and you'll see cereal shoved in Elmo's mouth.

Chester got in on the action. Finn says he liked alpha-bits, but not honeycomb!

My mom always made Valentine's day special at our house. I haven't done anything in previous years, but I decided to this year. I made my way to the store at 10pm the night before and picked up some candies, 2 balloons and the singing, dancing cow as mentioned in the previous post. Here he appears!!

We never made the heart-shaped cookies I was planning on, so I used the cookie cutters for the kids' pancakes that morning. You should have seen the heap of scraps that was my breakfast! Still tasty though. Hey, that pancake recipe is from Carol's husband! We love you Carol and Leard! : )
And just for fun...

Finn says he has 3 favorite foods: 1. PB&J sandwich. 2. Cream cheese 3. Bagels
Ally just eats the cream cheese. scraping it off her bagel very effectively with her teeth and cheeks.

Tonight, the lady bugs came out of the closet. She got them on by herself. But, the minute I got out the camera, she took them off, ran over to the closet, threw them in and slammed the door. So, this is all I have from that adorable moment!

Today is one of those "I'm just catching up with myself" days. I feel refreshed. Renewed.

The Ultimate Commitment
Cam wouldn't like that this song is titled, "Lucky," but I love it! With all the conversations we've had the past few days with those we love most, the struggle has been how do we convey to them what is going on. We feel misunderstood in many ways. Being told not to covet was one of those comments.... Truly, I feel Blessed to be with Cam and to be where I am. But, hardships still need to be dealt with honestly. And sometimes, things can be changed and the sour lemon thrown at me doesn't have to just be accepted. That's what is so great about being human. Our minds are able to come to a problem and solve it or better the situation rather than just wallow in it or choose to accept it as unchangable! : )
So, as I proclaim my love for my wonderful husband and our place here, I'll also say that the work of love is never to stop growing and challenging me. This is being truly sanctified. I'll also say that Matt. 16:33 is also on my mind....
"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you."

C.S.Lewis says friends are brought together on the way to a common place or to a common goal. How amazing it is to be walking next to Cam on the same journey. To watch him in every way as he does me. To stare trouble in the face and to enjoy all the mundane moments like laughing at the singing/dancing Valentine cow we got for the kids.....
As we continue to grow together....

failure
This John Waller song just says it all.
So.......the last few days have been not so good. Full of moments of complete failure in everything I do. And, it doesn't help that my husband is in the same place. Of all the things we do that seem well and out of love ~ there seem to be 30,000 things that get screamed back at us that we are doing poorly. That we failed.
Then, I look at my kids, my beautiful little kids. They are completely oblivious to mama's bad day. Yet, so often, the mama they get is the mama whose been battered and beaten down and is in no way ready to give them the fun, creative, loving day they deserve. It's not fair to them.
This post is for them. They are all I have right now that makes my day simply sparkle. I can look at them and pretty much forget anything and everything else.

Oh, and Thank You for sending the Valentine's Love Dad and family! We needed it!

Finn got first pick!!

2 Videos:
One of Finn and his little puppets!!! They've been a huge hit lately!
And Ally's new potty adventures! She hasn't figured it out yet, but she likes to pretend all day long!
Wishing for the silver lining, but treasuring what I have to treasure today.

Feeling loved!!
It's been so great to have lived here for 2 years now. The friendships I've made, the amazing acts of caring I've seen and just the plain old times of belly laughing that seem to come only when I'm completely at home with the company around me! This night saw some incredible belly laughs and the giddy behavior that seems more fitting at a teenage slumber party than a dinner and games night of the middle-aged!! But, I needed a night to hoot and hollar like this one.

Who says you can't dream a little!
Click here to view my dream house in Ridgewood!!! Yes, $3 million is a little pricey for us (heaps of laughter!!) Oh come on, it's only $16,000 a month!
However, since we may indeed, at some point, be able to build ourselves ~ what I love most about this house is not the size, but just how bright it is. Every room is so sunny and warm. The entry way is very welcoming as well!
I remember when we first moved down here, we sent Leslie this picture before she came for a visit. We gave her directions to our apartment, but we said this was our home!
I think the funnier thing is that in this part of New Jersey, you'll find run down shacks right next to a neighborhood like the one below!

Here's a more realistic dream house! And, the Lisa's would be neighbors! Yay!
Link to dream house. Cam says never to go by pictures though! It would be sad to lose our nice backyard and this house doesn't look like it's got much for a yard!

The Everyday Things...
Sometimes, friends are those that are really just walking the same road as I am. Joy and I cross paths so often (it helps that we live right down the road from one another!) we can't help but grow a little closer every day!

Isn't this little one the absolute cutest thing! : ) He just has this ear to ear grin whenever he is near Mama!!
I love these bead things.

This winter has been particularly cold here! During these months, it is really wonderful to get the kids out of the house. We come to this indoor play area at least a couple times a month. But, the house hasn't felt confining this winter! I am loving this stage with my kids! Lately, they've been playing and imagining together - plotting crazy things. Ally just follows Finn's lead and is his faithful sidekick in all the fun!
Playing pretend nap-time in this toy chest has become the new adventure!

Oh! And, I'm giving away Finn's new hide-and-seek spot if I show these pictures above! Although, Finn will be a giggling, squealing mess whenever we play again with daddy, so it won't be too hard to find him anyway!! : ) Okay, I don't feel so bad...
On baby news, I'm getting plenty of big kicks in the ribs~ but my belly just isn't growing like it should! So, I've got to go see my midwife more frequently than most women. It's not too alarming to my doc, but she just wants to make sure. I ask her if I'm some freak of nature and she answers with a chuckle. My babies have to fight to get any room for themselves! My tummy just doesn't budge! And, it is not like I've got abs of steel ~ far from that! The end of March is coming quickly......!

Home Sweet Home
This is what Finn is looking forward to when Daddy gets home!
Check the volume when you watch....There is Finn screaming involved!
It's neat to see Cam interacting with the kids like this. He's getting back from his Pastor's conference tonight! Yeah!
Thanks to the miracle of the internet, I already know what material he covered there! This link about the importance of Family Ministry is something I'm really excited to hear more about!!! It must have been a very challenging session for Cam. It will be a blessing to see our church growing in this way as well!
