Where to Begin.....and a GIVEAWAY

For me, pregnancy brings on two sorts of cravings. One obviously is food. The other is....
MUSIC!

The salad dressing at Olive Garden down right has me obsessed. Luckily, I don't crave it enough to actually go there just for the dressing. Unfortunately, I seem to be more put off by things at this point, which isn't unusual, except for the things that are putting me off. Crackers, breads, sweets, ice cream.......Very strange. During my other pregnancies, this was all I could eat. Fresh, raw things made me very sick. So, this time around, when I'm feeling a little questionable, I'm downing carrot sticks and scrambled eggs.... Not complaining about this!

Whenever I eat this I think of Leslie!

I'm also currently obsessed with Jamie Oliver. Although, I can't seem to love any of his recipes, I do LOVE his work with school lunches! Does anyone else find what he is doing absolutely brilliant? But, I made this zucchini and poached egg thingy for lunch today. It was a giddy cooking moment when I actually enjoyed myself in the kitchen!

On to my other obsession at the moment, Queen. I had this flashback to my childhood in Iowa the other day. I had just walked out to the garage to find my brother in the driveway shooting hoops and blasting Queen's greatest hits. That strong beat from "Another One Bites the Dust," comes to mind first. I believe my neighbor, Becca, and I also created an entire choreographed dance to Bohemian Rhapsody. That song is now Ally's favorite song to pick up toys too! :)

That same day, I came across this video and was again amazed at Freddie Mercury's voice and stage presence. RIP. It was a great day of dancing with the kids and putting on silly songs like Bicycle Race and Fat Bottom Girls!

Have a Queen moment today. Just type Queen into youtube or playlist or however you search music and remember all the amazing songs they created! But, I guess, you don't have to share in this particular obsession if you don't want to! ;)

On to more important things! Camlon has been home a fair bit lately and we've been soaking it up!

We are both realizing how much the kids are changing on a weekly basis. And in Eric's case, a daily one!

He loves putting on his shoes by himself now.

Phin is figuring out our daily routine. It only took six years! He knows to get up, get dressed, make his bed, eat breakfast, brush teeth, and help Eric empty the dishwasher. Then, we do about 20 minutes of homework and he knows when he is done, he can play the WHOLE REST OF THE DAY!!! He gets it!
Photobucket

Sometimes.....he's ready to play earlier!
Photobucket

Ally has been playing the piano lately and it is wonderful to hear what she plays!
Photobucket

Mom, I'm sorry, Eric broke these keys!
Photobucket

This was the "music book" Ally had propped up in front of her! Dad will remember reading this book to me!
Photobucket

I also went to a three day practicum for Classical Conversations and again, was renewed in my desire to educate our children this way!
Photobucket

Finn always waits for Cam to come home so he can tell him what is going on with his StarWars battles!
Photobucket
Today, I joined in a battle. I was amazed and how intricate his play is. Each "ship" moves a certain way. I learned that his little towers were actually repair stations. It was very planned out. I understood better why he gets so upset when Eric comes over and swipes off one side of the table! Still, I only let Finn play this when the little one is sleeping. Otherwise, Eric gets yelled at all day just for wanting to play!

I'm spending a lot of time at our local pool getting the kids swimming.
Photobucket

Ally screams bloody murder during her lessons! I just don't understand sometimes! But, hopefully, she will be taught! During her first lesson, I saw her teacher mouth these words to another instructor, "What do I do with this child?"
Photobucket
Now, we all join Ally in the pool during her lesson time. :) It's been quite and adventure for me, but the kids just LOVE it!

Did I mention a certain somebody that is home this week!
Photobucket

He bought this pack of water balloons and we had some fun one HOT afternoon!
Eric was not sure of this activity!
Photobucket

Ally and Finn had it out duel-style!

We moved the snails from our garden produce!

They love exploring new things with Daddy!

Eric is not afraid of these things. He kills all the spiders in our house before we know they are there. They never have a chance. Hopefully, soon, he will understand how to move them outside!

I woke up one morning to this on the counter!

You may miss our anniversary this year, Babe, but it will still be such a sweet day for me because I know how much you love me!

I'm working on my next Teen Challenge Post. The topic: Food and Nutrition

Potatoes from our container!

I think it is important to not only know about what foods are good and healthy, but also, HOW to prepare these healthy foods. Heck, I'm still learning!

I'm going to post a TV series from the UK. Actually, it is Jamie Oliver's show from when he was trying to change the British school lunches, which he successfully did! The language used by Jamie throughout the videos is just awful, but I do really believe in his mission for school lunches. His story should bring lots of discussion to any family table! Stay Tuned to Rachel's!

IF you feel like leaving a comment, could you please let me know one of your favorite Queen songs! And, any history that goes along with it! :) Also, let me know what you think of Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution. I spoke on it last year on the blog and even had a giveaway. The winner won a subscription to the 6 o'clock scramble, an amazing menu planning service! Well, I feel like doing it again!

If you've read all the way through this wordy post and feel the need to comment, you will be entered into the drawing for a free subscription to the 6 o'clock scramble! 5 recipes emailed to you each week including a shopping list. Healthy and every recipe I did was tasty. I even tried foods I wouldn't have otherwise tried. Still the ingredients are easy to find and the recipes are simple to follow! It's a wonderful gift! :)

I know a Way to Make You Smile

Life gets away from this blogger from time to time.....I've been devouring two new books: feng shui your life and the mission of motherhood. The two topics probably can't be more diverse! The kids are continuing their amazing adventures. We've had new company over for dinner. Camlon had a birthday while at sea! We've been some awesome rockin' birthday parties. And just today, Finn celebrated his last day of kindergarten. And in true Finn fashion (the child who does not want change in his life EVER), he declared that he wanted to stay in kindergarten forever.

Needless to say, I have many more pictures than I've been unable to post. This week has been busy and emotional and we are so glad for another sweet reunion here soon!

Today, I just wanted to put up a few more.

Camlon greets his new 4 year-old!
