but, as we drove back to iowa this time, it felt so good. i'm staying in the same house i grew up in. i'm tucking my kids into my old bedroom, my old bed! the neighbors are just as friendly as i remember them, with their little garden gnomes peeking out over the landscaping between our yards. the porch swing calls to me at least once a day. parks everywhere. sweet corn. even the same UPS guy, doing his same route. Fareway, the grocery store where they certainly bag all your groceries for you and wouldn't think of you pushing that cart out of the store by yourself, is still open. That's right, they bring those groceries right to your car and load them for you.
at bandshell park today, trains seemed to be running down the nearby tracks every 10 minutes. i remember the day they switched the trains from using their own horns at intersections to fake train horn noises they installed at each crossing! yet, they still make it sound convincing! and those engineers still pull the horn when they see excited little kiddos jumping up and down with excitement!
all this I describe to you b/c i haven't once pulled out my camera since we've gotten here, but once. and the pictures I want to share here are from our past month of traveling... just in the past 4 weeks we've gone to Boston, back to NJ, back to Boston!, over to NY, up to Canada, over to Michigan and finally, a 9 hour trip to Iowa that went very smoothly ~ God Bless our kids! The beginning of our trip actually feels like it was sooooo long ago. It also finally started sinking in, "we aren't going back to Jersey this time." and it was a sad thought.

it's going to take some time to set up my photos, but here is a shot from our travels through Vermont! more to come.
